As Guangdong’s first dedicated production line for semi-solid-state energy storage batteries, this initiative marks the world’s first mass production of 314Ah high-capacity semi-solid-state batteries, signaling the dawn of the "semi-solid era" for secondary batteries.It fills the gap in large-scale production of high-capacity semi-solid-state batteries in China, marking a milestone of Highstar’s breakthrough with cutting-edge technological prowess and serving as a key strategic initiative by Guangdong Energy Group in advancing the high-quality development of new energy. This achievement propels the Greater Bay Area into a new phase of technological innovation and industrialization in energy storage, serving as a model for China’s "dual-carbon" strategy and the cultivation of next-gen productive forces.



Breakthrough Leap: From Lab to Mass Production


As a veteran player in China’s secondary battery industry, Highstar boasts a mature industrial chain. Since initiating its solid-state battery transition in early 2024, the company has established a three-tier R&D system ("hybrid liquid-solid," "quasi-solid," and "all-solid"). Leveraging proprietary nano-scale solid electrolyte technology through its partnership with WeLion New Energy, Highstar’s semi-solid-state batteries significantly outperform traditional liquid lithium batteries in safety.


Highstar's 314Ah prismatic semi-solid battery is the world's first 1kWh-class battery cell to achieve no smoke emission during a 5mm nail penetration test. During production, Highstar overcame core technological challenges in large-scale manufacturing of semi-solid batteries and validated product feasibility and stability in real production environments, laying a solid foundation for future mass production.



Safety Revolution: Redefining Battery Performance Boundaries


Compared to traditional liquid batteries, Highstar's semi-solid battery, with its hybrid design of solid electrolyte and liquid electrolyte, significantly reduces the risk of thermal runaway. It can pass extreme tests such as nail penetration and crushing even under high-energy-density conditions, ensuring a "non-flammable and non-explosive" safety profile.



Comprehensive Empowerment: Elevating the New Energy Industry


Guangdong Highstar currently operates two automated production lines with an annual capacity of 6GWh. The launch of the 314Ah large-capacity semi-solid battery, with its high safety, long cycle life, and cost-effectiveness, meets diverse application needs and is widely applicable in new energy storage and low-altitude economy sectors. It performs exceptionally well in energy storage systems, being suitable for grid-level storage, commercial and industrial storage, residential storage, data centers, computing centers, and communication base station backup power, effectively improving energy utilization rates. In the future, it will also find broad application in areas such as buses, heavy trucks, electric ships, and engineering machinery.



Smart Manufacturing: Building an All-Solid-State Battery Ecosystem


The synergy between AI and solid-state battery technology is accelerating innovation. AI’s data analytics and predictive capabilities are speeding up R&D, while solid-state batteries provide stable, high-performance energy for AI hardware. Their integration unlocks vast potential in smart devices and green energy.


By 2026, Highstar plans to advance solid-state lithium/sodium-ion battery supply chains, expand global markets, and deliver safer, more efficient energy solutions for emerging sectors like low-altitude economy, AI hardware, and robotics—cementing its leadership in R&D and intelligent manufacturing.
